2008 Rocket Launch

Saturday, May 17 at 9:00 am at SWHS parking lot, south-side of school

Please put your name somewhere on the rocket, directly with marker or with tape so we can match up rockets with owners.

Decorate your rockets anyway you want – paint, stickers, etc. However follow assembly instructions closely and do not modify the model beyond what is directed.

Bring assembled rockets on launch date, place on the table with your Den’s name posted.

Before launch, Leaders will inspect rockets for airworthiness, fold parachutes, and install wadding and engines.

All rockets will use the same mid-sized engines (B6-4).

These rockets travel FAST and fly HIGH - most travel at approx 300 to 400 mph and fly to approx. 700 to 1,000 feet in altitude.

Only the rocket owner will be allowed to chase/recover their rocket!

Cancellation will be communicated by 7 am the day of the launch to Den Leaders. Den Leaders will then contact their respective Scouts.

Akela's Athletes and Webelos Woods

Spend the day playing Native American games - Hawk eye, hide slide, archery, hoop and ball, bb guns, ball throw, run on place. These games might not sound familiar to you now, but if you come and join us on Saturday, May 3rd, your Cub Scouts will know them by heart. Lunch is included.

For Webelos, the day will continue with Webelos Woods – an overnight adventure program made just for them. Meals will be provided on Saturday night and Sunday morning.

Akela's Athletes is designed for all Cub Scouts, from Tiger Cubs, all the way to Webelos. Webelos Woods is for both Webelos 1 and 2 Scouts. Scouts that just earned the Bear rank can register as Webelos for this event.

These events will be at the Outdoor Education Center, just east of Lincoln, on Saturday May 3rd starting at 10am. Akela's Athletes will conclude at 3pm. Webelos Woods will begin at 4pm and will continue until 11am Sunday morning, May 4th. Hosted By the Council Cub Scout Committee and the Arrowmen of the Golden Sun Lodge, Order of the Arrow.

Adult participants MUST accompany Cub Scouts as follows:

Akela’s Athletes – Tigers: 1 adult for each youth – Wolves, Bears, Webelos: 1 adult for every 5 youth

Webelos Woods – 1 adult for every 5 youth

Registration Fees:

Akela’s Athletes - $12 per Youth, $5 per

Adult belos Woods - $20 per Youth, $15 per Adult
